Working from the listing of cases from the Registrar General's Reports, Dr Sebastian Funk's animation shows the prevalence of active fatal cases over the course of the 1854 Broad Street epidemic. The red dots indicate fatal cases of cholera between time of onset and death; the blue squares show the location of water pumps in Soho – with the Broad Street pump being in the centre; and the black cross points out the geographical centre of the cases at each point in time – notably hovering around the Broad Street pump as the outbreak begins.
